Tignale is a plateau that directly overlooks Lake Garda. Wherever you go, unexpected opportunities will present you to enjoy splendid views that will be the added value for the eyes and the heart, to your holidays.

Don’t miss the lively ‘sagre’ (festivals) with typical local food, the mediaeval markets (historical reconstruction in costume of peasant markets of the thirteenth century), the classical music concerts with famous international artists, the truffle festival.

The Sanctuary of Montecastello is located just below the peak of Monte Cas, on a spur of rock sheer above the lake, with magnificent panoramic views. With its wonderful air of spirituality and peace, its history, artistic & architectural beauty, and marvellous location, it is one of the most famous and well-loved sacred places of Lake Garda. For centuries it has been a place of pilgrimage and devotion, particularly to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is portrayed in an antique and miraculous fresco behind the main altar.

Tignale's port
Pra de la Fam

The port of Tignale is also identified with the name of "PRA DE LA FAM"..

In the past this area was vital for communication - it linked the villages of Tignale with the main towns along the lakeside. It was called Pra de la Fam (local dialectic form of "prato della fame" - meadow of hunger) because when sailors or fishermen took refuge there during violent storms they could be there for days without any food available. From the early Middle Ages until the nineteenth century there was a hermitage built into the rock here of considerable architectural and artistic interest. However the most important structure here is La Limonaia (the lemon house) del Pra de la Fam, a type of greenhouse for the lemon trees that characterise the scenery along the western side of Lake Garda (see "The Lemon Houses")

  • From June to September a shuttle bus is available (free for residents and holders of the Tignale card) that takes you from Tignale to the Lido with 4 trips a day.

Naturalistic observatory

It is an innovative path that winds through the plain of Tignale where, in addition to a garden of the five senses and an orchard of memory, you can observe the main tree species of Alto Garda and learn about, through an educational itinerary in the woods, the habits and animal tracks in the park.

The oil mill

The extra virgin olive oil from Tignale’s “Latteria Turnaria” Co-operative is an organic product of the highest quality. The local luxuriant varieties of olive trees are grown along terraces in one of the most attractive areas of the local regional park (Parco Alto Garda Bresciano) and are cultivated using traditional methods. The olives are handpicked and then taken directly to the olive mill. The cold pressed oil is golden-coloured and has a fruity taste.

You can visit the oil mill in Tignale, buy oil and other produce and be informed about the production of the oil and its characteristics from the people who work there. Address: Oleificio Biologico di Tignale (Tignale Organic Oil Mill).
